Despite being based in the heart of the notoriously indie scene of NYC’s lower east side, Tongue’s music is built to blast out car radios cruising Main Street, USA.

100 M.P.H. of PURE FUN

With clear-eyed vocals, ultra-catchy lyrics and instantly memorable choruses riding shotgun with driving rhythms and anthemic hooks, Tongue’s sound — although classic in spirit — stands on its own in today’s musical landscape. Where else can you find songs with such heart and feel exploding in short bursts of rapid-fire energy? With a Tongue live show that can only be described as 100 m.p.h. of pure fun, Tongue are champions of a new brand of high octane rock n’ roll – unabashedly commercial, unapologetically universal in approach, and without question, the soundtrack to a new wave of rock n roll.

SONGS that MEAN SOMETHING

Tongue’s appeal begins with a return to songs that mean something— to the audience and surely to Tongue’s chief songwriter, singer/guitarist Zack Miller. Miller, joining forces with the propulsive rhythm section of Jillian Lee (bass/backing vocals) and Darren Fried (drums/backing vocals), populates Tongue’s music with the kind of living, breathing characters that have been sorely missed in today’s rock.  Totally Addicted is a new addition to the pantheon of songs devoted to the timeless art of juvenile delinquency, while Heaven is a State of Mind is a call to arms for optimists everywhere (and a call to flick those Bics in celebration of one of the best power ballads in years). People Change somehow captures the unstoppable march of time and the fundamental truths of human nature in an unforgettable tour de force…of less than 4 minutes!  The unbridled enthusiasm of We Can Do It Baby and Sweeping the Nation is as unstoppably infectious as the titles suggest, while It Makes No Sense at All combines elements of pop-punk and 80’s English dance in a way that is completely unique to Tongue. I Like Your Thing, born as song, but destined to be a catch phrase for lovers everywhere, offers a chorus so damn catchy it dares you to even try and stop singing along after your first listen.

An AUTHENTIC ROCK N ROLL ANIMAL

In an era where plasticity and pre-recorded hype are too often substitutes for anything real and built to last, Tongue is a rare combination— an explosive live act who have somehow managed to also capture their indefinable spark on record. Tongue is the 1000-watt remedy for bored eardrums rocked to sleep by a slew of bands that over-promised and under-delivered. Audiences in NYC, the USA, and the World have been waiting years for an authentic rock n roll animal to mark its musical territory… as their demo’s irresistible, fist-pumping tracks attest to, Tongue’s bark is as sexy as its bite.
